Gastonia, N.C. — Nonprofit organizations and schools in North Carolina working to improve the environment and provide educational experiences in communities served by Dominion Energy now have access to even more funding through the Dominion Energy Charitable Foundation.
After recently merging with PSNC Energy’s parent company, SCANA, Dominion Energy has increased funding of environmental grants in North Carolina. Eligible organizations can apply for the grants, which provide up to $1.5 million in areas across the Dominion Energy footprint, through April 30, 2019.
“Our commitment to the communities we serve includes enhancing support for community causes in North Carolina with a focus on education and environmental stewardship,” said Rodney Blevins, president and CEO of the Southeast Energy Group, which houses SCANA Corporation's operating and services companies, including PSNC Energy. “We are pleased to provide increased funding of these environmental grants – including classroom grants for K-12 schools – for groups that work hard to make a meaningful difference to sustain our environment.”
Eligible nonprofit organizations are invited to apply for grants up to $25,000 that focus on specific, short-term projects that promise measurable results to improve the environment. Also, eligible K-12 schools can apply for classroom grants up to $5,000 each for environmental education programs.
Dominion Energy will consider grant requests that focus on one or more of the following priorities:
